Veiled Thoughts ׀ Cached Experiences

So our beloved sister Jisha was raped and murdered by some Assamese worker. (Reason: Jisha made fun of him.) Few days before, some goons sexually harassed the South Indian film actress Bhavana. (Reason: They were in need of 30 lakh rupees). And then, we have a literate society which is convinced by this explanation and a government whose proclaimed policy is "women security". # Nirbhaya  repeats here in Kochi. Shall we then at least rule out the positive co-relation between education and civilised behaviour? Can we also negate the social status of the victim?

നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടില് കുറേ തീപ്പൊരി നേതാക്കളും ബുദ്ധിജീവികളുമുണ്ട്. അവരൊക്കെ ഹൈദരാബാദ് സെന്ട്രല് യുണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, ജെ.എന്.യുവിലെ അസ്സഹിഷ്ണുത അങ്ങനൊക്കെ ദേശീയ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള വിഷയങ്ങളില് മാത്രമേ ഇടപെടൂ. ബീഫ് ഒക്കെ വളരെ ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള ഭക്ഷണമാ. പിന്നെ സംസ്ഥാന തലത്തിലേക്കൊക്കെ വന്നാല് സ്വാശ്രയ മാനേജ്മന്റിനെ കണ്ണെടുത്താല് കണ്ടുകൂടാ. പക്ഷെ എല്ലായിടത്തുമില്ല. വളരെ സിലെക്ടീവ് ആണ്. അവര് മുന്പോട്ടു വെക്കുന്ന രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിന് സ്വീകാര്യത കുറവുള്ള ഇടത്താണ് കൂടുതല് താത്പര്യം. വിഷയം സമകാലീന പ്രസ്സക്തി ഉള്ളതായിരിക്കും. അതിലൊന്നും തര്ക്കമില്ല. കേരളത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്വയം ഭരണ എയിഡഡ് കോളേജിലും അടുത്തിടെ വന് പുകിലായിരുന്നു. ഇനി സര്ക്കാര് സ്ഥാപനത്തില് ആണേല് അധ്യാപികക്ക് കുഴിമാടമൊരുക്കും, കസേര കത്തിക്കും...ഇതാണ് ആക്ടിവിസം, ക്രിയാത്മകത   എന്നൊക്കെ പറയുന്നത്. എന്ന് വെച്ചാല് ഇതൊന്നും വെറും സമരം അല്ലാന്നു. പല അര്ത്ഥതലങ്ങളുണ്ട്, പഴയ രാജാവിന്റെ കഥ പോലെ ബുദ്ധി ഉള്ളവര്ക്ക് മാത്രേ മനസ്സിലാകൂ... ഇനി പുതിയ തരം സമരം കാണണമെങ്കില് തിരുവനന്തപുരം ലോ അക്കാദമിയില് ചെന്നാല് മതി. ഞായറാഴ്ച്ചയാണ് മാര്ച്ച്. മാര്ച്ച് അക്രമാസക്തം ആവണമല്

ഒരു വർഷം ആയിട്ടില്ല. പ്രളയദുരിതമൊക്കെ ഒന്ന് കെട്ടടങ്ങിയ സമയത്താണ് വിശാഖപട്ടണത്തുള്ള സുഹൃത്തിന്റെ വിവാഹം കൂടിയശേഷം നാട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള വരവിൽ ആദ്യമായി ചെന്നൈ നഗരത്തിലെത്തുന്നത്. ഉച്ചക്ക് രണ്ടരക്കുള്ള ട്രെയിനിൽ കയറുന്നത് വരെ നേരം കളയാൻ വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഞാൻ മറീന ബീച്ചിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നത്. തിരിച്ചു പുറത്തിറങ്ങി റോഡ് ക്രോസ്സ് ചെയ്യാൻ തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോഴാണ് ഒരു വനിതാ പോലീസ് വന്നിട്ട് പറയുന്നത്:  "Sir, Please wait for 5 minutes. Our CM is coming". ആർക്കും ദർശനം കിട്ടാത്ത ഒരു അവസ്ഥയിൽ എനിക്ക് സിദ്ദിച്ച ഭാഗ്യമോർത്തു ഞാൻ അങ്ങനെ നിന്നു. ഒരു 10-12 കാറുകൾ ഒന്നിന് പിറകെ ഒന്നായി പോകുന്നു. ചിലതിൽ വീഡിയോ ഷൂട്ട് ചെയുന്നു. ചിലതിൽ എന്തൊക്കെയോ സുരക്ഷാ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ ഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. SP, IG റാങ്കിൽ കുറയാത്ത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരൊക്കെ ആയിരുന്നു ഓരോന്നിലും. അവസാനം അമ്മയെത്തി. പ്രാഡോയുടെ മുൻ സീറ്റിൽ ചിരിച്ചു കൈകൾ കൂപ്പി ഇരിക്കുന്നു. അതൊരു മാസ്സ് എൻട്രി തന്നെ ആരുന്നൂന്നു പറയാം. പിറകെയും കുറെ വണ്ടികളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവസാനം ബ്ലോക്ക് ചെയ്തിരുന്ന റോഡ് തുറന്നുകൊടുക്കാൻ അവിടെ നിന്നിരുന്ന പോലീസ്‌കാർക്കു സന്ദേശമെത്തി. ഇവിടെ നാട്ടിൽ സ്വന

     The interventions made by NGOs and CSRs are widely discussed these days as a solution for issues which are inherent in our system. Our governmental machinery lacks certain essential features and most of these NGOs concentrates on areas which are abandoned by the respective governments. It is not a danger and civil society participation is really good and inevitable in our system 1. Until the participation of these players are not resulting in the withdrawal of state from welfare activities and 2. If they are not misusing the feelings of those so-called abandoned, marginalized people or/and if they are not implementing indirectly the vested interests of influential groups/foreign powers. All other issues can be brought under these two wide categories. The two conditions mentioned above is unavoidable in a Democracy and if an intervention fails to comply with these conditions; it is in fact undermining Democracy.
