So sorry to hear yet another incident of child abuse from this God's Own Country. Why are we not having the usual hues and cries? Yeah, there is. But some groups are strategically silent including some famous journos and people who portray themselves as activists. Maybe we cannot go to that extent as almost every second person having an account on Facebook is an activist nowadays. Anyhow, I cannot see much profile pictures painted in a particular color or picture frames pleading justice for this kid. Some are only concerned when they can give a 'savarna' explanation to a particular issue. But why would a certain group of people including the accused in this case who voiced their protest in social media after the Kathua rape and murder case now claim that this 10-year-old child was actually enjoying his sexual act?      The interventions made by NGOs and CSRs are widely discussed these days as a solution for issues which are inherent in our system. Our governmental machinery lacks certain essential features and most of these NGOs concentrates on areas which are abandoned by the respective governments. It is not a danger and civil society participation is really good and inevitable in our system 1. Until the participation of these players are not resulting in the withdrawal of state from welfare activities and 2. If they are not misusing the feelings of those so-called abandoned, marginalized people or/and if they are not implementing indirectly the vested interests of influential groups/foreign powers. Today Kerala celebrated its 25th anniversary of being a 100% literate state. (e-literacy and 100% primary education are recent achievements). But at the same time, few issues remain unaddressed. 1. Suicides, Ever increasing Criminal cases and Sexual harassment. 2. Death due to life style diseases and road accidents. 3. Export of skilled labor and high dependency on NRI money. 4. And there is a BIG BIG issue to deal with..environmental degradation and climate changes because of our obsession towards "development". This is not a perfect model which the other Indian states can replicate. To prove that the achievements were not incidental and Kerala is different indeed... Care is not just about KARUNYA LOTTERY.
